On Monday, May 4 2026, I’ll be one of seven readers performing in Vancouver along with the folk/roots/singer-songwriter trio Fraser Union, at RE:UNION: Labour Song and Literature. The event will take place at Mel Lehan Hall, St. James Community Square, 3214 West 10th Ave., at 7:30 pm. Admission is by $20 suggested donation.
Reading with me will be other former members of the Vancouver Industrial Writers’ Union (1979-1993) including Kate Braid, Kirsten Emmott, Zoë Landale, and Sandy Shreve. In November 2024, I had read on Pender Island with these authors. Kate suggested we do it again, but back in Vancouver!
Thus, reading at the RE:UNION event will be former VIWU members still living in Vancouver, David Conn and Calvin Wharton. VIWU, when it was active, often performed with Fraser Union, who are Kathy Griffin, Roger Holdstock, and Barry Truter.
