My account of moving to the Slocan Valley in 1989 and my life here in the decades since, The Road to Appledore, had its official release in early May. I’ve been gratified by the responses—at least, the initial ones!
The Vancouver Sun gave the book an entire page (A7) on May 9, with an interview with me by Dana Gee: B.C. author chronicles 30-year journey from city dweller to rural resident.
And even before the Sun piece, on April 25, the academic journal BC Studies had responded positively: BC Studies Review by Shirley McDonald.
Meantime, on May 6, the reviewer for The Miramichi Reader (a website reviewing new Canadian literary titles) also seems to have been engaged by The Road : The Miramichi Reader Review by Lisa Timpf.
All in all, I’m happy about this warm welcome to the book.
